  • When your insurance company is called out to your home to investigate hail damage, they are usually looking for prominent hail damage and other weather-related damage to your roof. Shingles are designed so that the granules block the UV of the sun and protect the asphalt underlayment. As the shingles age, the granules fall off over time. When your roof has hail damage, it does several things: accelerates granule loss, accelerates shingle aging, voids manufacturer's warranties, and leads to other associated problems. Although hail damage doesn't pose an immediate threat to the structural integrity of the roof, it will eventually lead to problems if left untreated. Also, many insurance companies have a statute of limitations on how long a hail claim is viable. It is a good idea to contact ProCare soon after a major hail storm.

  • Granule loss is a normal part of the weathering process for composition roofing. Small hail impacting a roof can often displace some of the granules, as does rain, wind, snow, ice, and foot traffic.

  • Look for an established, licensed or bonded roofer and request references. Ask to see certificates of insurance for liability and workers compensation insurance coverage. ProCare provides FREE inspections.

  • Your policy may outline age requirements for roof replacement or roofing repair. For instance, if your roof is more than 10 years old, you may only be allowed reimbursement for the depreciated value of your roof instead of the original value. As aforementioned, the condition of your roof also matters when the insurance company evaluates whether or not it can cover your roof damage. The more severe the leaking and evident damage that is present, the better your case for the necessity of a repair or replacement.

  • Flashings are used wherever something intersects the roof. These are the most important areas of your roof. Various materials can be used to protect these areas: sheet metal (copper, galvanized steel, aluminum), Lead, ice and water shield, membranes, and sealants can be integrated at siding, chimneys, walls, gutter lines, skylights, pipes, and vents. If the existing flashing is in good shape they can sometimes be re-used. However, since flashing can be the most critical roof component we recommend new flashings if there is any concern about the existing.

  • You may want new gutters because of aesthetics, poor drainage, or to stop annoying leaks. ProCare Solutions roofers can replace gutters with or without a new roof. We install copper or aluminum gutters. When a roof is ready to be replaced, the gutters may also be on their last legs. Our roofing professionals will be able to determine this for you, and explain the benefits of replacing your roof and gutters together.

  • Ice and Water shield is a protective underlayment that is put on over the wood deck prior to any shingles. It is used as an extra layer of protection in areas that are most prone to leaking and ice backup problems. We install Ice and Water shield along the eaves, around chimneys, skylights and in all valleys. In most cases the home owners insurance policy will

  • For a new skylight installation there's no better time to have the work done than when you're replacing the roof on your house. If you have skylights that leak or give you other problems, ProCare Solutions roofers will come out and diagnose the problem to the best of our ability. In this day and age skylights on shingle roofs have become much more common, and affordable. If you would like to add a skylight let our estimators know and we will provide you with a variety of options.

  • ProCare Solutions roofers take pride in their cleanliness of their job site from start to finish. We'll use nail magnets to find and pick up all nails. Lastly, we'll perform a final inspection of your new roof and your grounds to assure your complete satisfaction.

  • We are fully insured for both workers' comp and general liability coverage. What this means to you is that you will never be responsible for any of these expenses. We will be happy to provide certificates of insurance for you.

  • At least annually, take a peek at your roof to see if there are any cracked or missing shingles, deteriorated flashing, loose seams and other signs of problems. Indoors, check for discolored drywall, peeling wallpaper or cracked paint, which may be due to the roof. If you see any of these call the roofers at ProCare Solutions for an immediate evaluation (the faster we can solve your problem, the more we can mitigate further damage).

  • There are two major types of residential insurance policies, "Actual Cash Value" (ACV) and "Replacement Cost" (RC). With an ACV policy your roof will depreciate in value each year for 10 years, if your roof sustains any damages, you will only receive a check for the depreciated value of your roof. If you carry a RC policy, your insurance company will cover the cost to replace your new roof minus your deductible. Home insurance policies that are "replacement cost" will generally pay two installments for a new roof. The first check should be sent to the policyholder as soon as the adjuster has completed the damage assessment. The second check, generally 10 to 40 percent of the total settlement, is held back until the repairs are completed. This second check, usually referred to as "depreciation," will be sent to the homeowner when the insurance company receives an invoice for final payment. Please be aware that most settlement checks are valid for 180 days. If the homeowner allows this check to expire, the Bank will not honor it and a rather lengthy process will be required to have this check re-issued. It is also important to remember that the settlement is based on the cost to repair the roof with materials of "like kind and quality." Sometimes there is a discrepancy in the adjustment in cost, size of roof, or scope of damage between the homeowner and their insurance adjuster. If this is the case, your sales representative has the experience necessary to resolve these differences directly with your insurance adjuster.
